Improve Cervical Cancer Screening for Black Women With Physical Disabilities

At Divas in the City, we uplift the voices and lived experiences of powerful women every day—and one area where disability inclusion is urgently needed is healthcare and research.
We’re honored to partner with our friend and colleague Brandie Bentley, PhD, MSW, a researcher and disability-focused doula at the University of Michigan (Michigan Medicine), on an important study aimed at improving cervical cancer screening for black women with physical disabilities.
Too many disabled black women face barriers to accessing cervical cancer screenings in clinical settings. This study explores whether two at-home self-sampling tools can provide a more accessible, practical, and empowering option.
You may qualify if you:
✔️ Identify as a black woman
✔️ Are ages 25–65
✔️ Have a physical disability
✔️ Have not had a hysterectomy
Participants will:
• Try two at-home self-sampling tools
• Complete a brief survey
• Join a short follow-up interview
Total time: about 2 hours
Compensation: $50
