Divas in the City
Divas in the City is the bold digital media program from Divas With Disabilities, created to amplify authentic storytelling and produce original programming—including the Divas in the City Digital Series.
The Divas With Disabilities Project proves that diva and disability can coexist—that Dynamic, Illuminating, Victorious, and Achieving Sisters with disabilities can live boldly, unapologetically, and powerfully.
Led by Visionary Tameka Citchen-Spruce
Guided by Tameka Citchen-Spruce, Divas in the City carries the same passion and vision she brought to Living Unapologetically Media. With her commitment to inclusion and her gift for storytelling, she leads this platform to spotlight voices too often left unheard.
Centering Bold Storytelling
The platform highlights disabled entrepreneurs, black and brown women, and bold visionaries who are taking their cities by storm—as baddies, bosses, and beauties.
Redefining Power & Visibility
Through shows that celebrate resilience, creativity, and unapologetic confidence, Divas in the City redefines what it means to own your power, thrive in your city, and inspire others through leadership and visibility.

Creators’ Statement
From Dr. Donna Rena Walton, EdD & Tameka Citchen‑Spruce
Divas in the City was born from a simple but powerful truth: The stories of women with disabilities—our brilliance, our leadership, our everyday lives—deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated without apology.
As two Black disabled women committed to shifting culture through storytelling, we created this digital webseries to amplify the voices that too often go unseen. We wanted to show the world what we already knew: that Divas With Disabilities are out here leading, creating, building, and thriving in every corner of our cities.
This series reflects our shared vision, our lived experiences, and our belief in the transformative power of authentic representation. Every episode honors the women who show up as themselves—boldly, beautifully, and without compromise.
We are proud of what Divas in the City sparked, and we are honored to share this work with the Divas With Disabilities community as part of a continuing legacy of visibility, creativity, and unapologetic truth.
Improve Cervical Cancer Screening for Black Women With Physical Disabilities

At Divas in the City, we uplift the voices and lived experiences of powerful women every day—and one area where disability inclusion is urgently needed is healthcare and research.
We’re honored to partner with our friend and colleague Brandie Bentley, PhD, MSW, a researcher and disability-focused doula at the University of Michigan (Michigan Medicine), on an important study aimed at improving cervical cancer screening for black women with physical disabilities.
Too many disabled black women face barriers to accessing cervical cancer screenings in clinical settings. This study explores whether two at-home self-sampling tools can provide a more accessible, practical, and empowering option.
You may qualify if you:
✔️ Identify as a black woman
✔️ Are ages 25–65
✔️ Have a physical disability
✔️ Have not had a hysterectomy
Participants will:
• Try two at-home self-sampling tools
• Complete a brief survey
• Join a short follow-up interview
Total time: about 2 hours
Compensation: $50
