Attention, Disabled Writers: Funding Opportunity Is Open
The Inevitable Emergency Relief Fund is open on a rolling basis for submissions from professional US disabled writers experiencing financial hardship to receive cash grants.
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.
The Inevitable Emergency Relief Fund is a cash grant program that supports disabled writers, filmmakers, and creatives experiencing financial hardship.
Program Structure:
- You self-identify as disabled
- The Fund provides grants to disabled writers and filmmakers experiencing financial hardship
- For creatives who work in narrative, documentary, and unscripted film and television
- Need will be considered includes but is not limited to housing costs, health impacts and medical costs, and lost employment
- Intended for writers and filmmakers who identify as disabled: physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, chronic health conditions, mental illnesses, blindness, low vision, deafness, neurodivergence, etc
Eligibility:
- You self-identify as disabled
- You are a US Citizen
- You are a disabled WGA member
- You are a disabled writer with an agent or manager
- You are a disabled writer who has a professional film or television credit to their name
Program Notes:
- Applicants are only eligible to receive one Grant every 60 days
- Applications will be prioritized according to need and available funds
- The Foundation reviews Applications on a rolling basis and aims to get back to Applicants within a week of the application deadline
- An Approved Applicant will be notified at their email address and/or phone number indicated on their Application when their application is approved
- Funding is provided in the form of hardship grants through ACH Direct Deposit or check
- In order to be as responsive as possible, they aim to review applications in 14 days or less
Application Requirements:
- Name and contact information
- Information to verify basic eligibility
- Various financial information to verify financial need
- Various demographic information
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Launch Lab Fall 2026 Cohort Now Open
Launch Lab: Build Your Business from Idea to Reality
Presented by Broaddus Business Solutions
In partnership with Divas With Disabilities™
Applications are now open for the Fall 2026 cohort of Launch Lab, a six‑week virtual entrepreneurship program designed to help emerging business owners develop structured, actionable business concepts. This hands‑on course provides instruction, discussion, guest speakers, and guided business‑planning activities to support participants in shaping and strengthening their business ideas.
Course Dates October 6 – November 19, 2026
Six‑week virtual program
Meets twice weekly via Zoom
Program Details Cost: Scholarship Provided (no cost to selected participants)
Cohort Size: Only 5 participants will be selected
Application Deadline: September 14, 2026
Notification Date: Selected participants will be notified by October 1, 2026
Selection Criteria
- Clarity of business idea
- Readiness to learn and participate
- Commitment to attending all sessions
- Alignment with Launch Lab’s goals
- Quality of personal statement
What Participants Will Gain
- A refined business idea
- A structured business‑planning framework
- SMART goals for business development
- A basic marketing strategy
- Awareness of startup costs and revenue
- A comprehensive resource packet
- A personalized next‑step action plan
- Certificate of Completion

Divas With Disabilities Project™ Is Seeking Volunteer Graphic Artists (posted 6/11/26)
DWD is expanding our creative team — and we’re looking for graphic artists who believe in authentic, human‑made storytelling. Let’s be clear: we have been relying on AI tools to help us create graphics, but we do not want to continue down that path.
AI has helped us stay organized, but it cannot replace the artistry, cultural nuance, and lived‑experience perspective that real designers bring.
That is exactly why we are seeking volunteer graphic artists — to move away from AI‑generated visuals and return to work that is fully human‑crafted and rooted in authenticity. Our brand is built on real women, real stories, and real images from our DWD™ media library. We want our graphics to reflect that truth.
What You’ll Help Us Create
Social media graphics using our existing DWD™ images
Clean, polished layouts for campaigns and announcements
Brand‑consistent visuals across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and our website Creative storytelling that uplifts disability visibility and representation
Why Your Art Matters
Your work will help amplify the voices of Black and Brown women with disabilities.
You’ll help us maintain a visual identity that is authentic, human, and rooted in real lived experience — not automation.
Commitment
Flexible, remote, project‑based
Approximately 4–8 hours per month
Collaborative work with our leadership team
Stipend (Optional)
This is primarily a volunteer role.
We can offer a small stipend of $100–$200 per month depending on workload and availability.

Emerging designers building a portfolio
Artists passionate about disability justice
Creatives who value authenticity over automation
Students or early‑career designers seeking meaningful experience

Over time, many of you have asked for a space where conversations could continue, resources could be easier to find, and connections could grow beyond social media. We’ve been listening.
We are officially introducing the Divas With Disabilities Community, our new dedicated online space created specifically for Black and Brown women and girls with disabilities and those who support this work.
This space allows us to:
• connect more intentionally
• share opportunities and resources
• host programs and discussions
• build relationships in a safer and more supportive environment
Facebook will still exist for announcements and updates, but the deeper conversations, resources, and engagement will now live inside our community.
