Our global movement is committed to increasing the participation and authentic representation of black and brown women and girls with visible disabilities in all areas of life, especially in mass media, television, film, publications, advertising and civic engagement.
We strive to reshape what visible disability looks like.
Beyond that mission, we also support and advocate for black and brown girls and women with disabilities through our struggle for disability justice and social justice.
Additionally, we help them break down the internal and external barriers to their success, overcome the various types of discrimination they might face, improve their mental health, identify and achieve their dreams, and live unapologetically!
In short, we are Divas helping Divas live and thrive.

WHAT WE DO
DWD MEETINGS
We host weekly and/or monthly online support meetings for our community. Our conference calls offer a safe space for connecting with others, networking, and having open discussions about topics that impact our lives. We often invite a guest speaker to engage us in thought-provoking conversations about the experiences of our Divas.
PEER SUPPORT
We have to look out for one another, and Divas helping other Divas is the best way to support and learn from each other.
DWD EVENTS
We host and participate in numerous national conferences, workshops and panels for our community.
MENTORING
We help our members find mentors for their professional journey.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Depending on donors and grant funding, we develop special programs to serve our members’ needs.
RESOURCES
We provide helpful resources for our members, including our newsletter and allied publication, RESILIENCE magazine.
